While in High School in 1992 I was working with NASA on a project to establish a radio signal link betwen
Carl Hayden High School and the STS 58 space shuttle. At a time when our 486 DX computer was
state-of-the-art and nothing like this had been done in Arizona before, I took the lead and made it
happen. As part of this program, NASA wanted to use email to organize the project. Internet
access wasn't available at all beyond Universities at the time until I started working with two
college kids to make it available to me. Later that year I joined those guys and became the
head system administrator for Arizona's first public ISP, selling super slow dialup connections
with 5 phone lines.
While working with that internet provider I developed many key technologies, including the concept
of a virtual server, a technology later adapted by BSDi and widely spread through the leading web
server at the time. This was the first of many major technology breakthroughs I invented.
From there I went on to become the Head of Research and Development for a larger national
dialup provider. As that company grew and merged, my role expanded as the Head of MIS. Our company
was responsible for nearly 30% of all internet traffic at the time, including companies like
Netscape, Yahoo, NBC, Time Warner, Playboy and 50,000 dialup subscribers.
In 1997 I left my role to persue the next great use for the internet, e-Commerce. At the time,
nobody had a name for it and few people were using it. With ecommerce as a foundation I built a
highly profitably but small consulting company from the ground up. Products I designed and
developed won national and international awards and were recognized by leading publications such
as C|Net, NBC, Men's Journal, Sun Microsystems, Novell, and many others. After several years the
intellectual property was sold to a software development firm. This 8 year old product is still in
use by companies around the world today.
For the last several years I have been working at the executive level of small companies
and recently funded companies on a contract basis to develop their technology strategy and help bring
it to market. I work with cutting edge technologies such as forensic science, voip (voice over IP),
audio and video processing, cost reduction through system automation, international outsourcing,
and online services. I've worked with M & A as well as patent application submission.
I enjoy working on small projects as well as larger projects. I am also an award wining
developer with Master Class experience in several technologies.
I have a very broad range of technical skills and I never use the words can' be done.
I'm articulate and as comfortable in the board room as I am with customers, clients, or media.
I can analyze P&L statements or analyze an algorithm for flaws.
References are available upon request. With more than a decade of experience, I have clients
all over the world.
