Payment Guard (2007 - 2008)

PaymentGuard is a unique system that is installed at the DELL AMC on computers ordered
by a large company for lease-to-own. The company had a very high rate of non payment so
this software was designed. The software installs very deep inside of the OS by using
a custom Linux boot disk to modify key parts of the OS and BIOS. Once installed it can
not be detected by Anti-Virus software, it does not appear in any process list of any kind
because it doesn't run as a process and it can't be turned off.
The software directly accesses the network stack so it is not subjected to any installed
firewalls or filters. It does not use the ws2_32.dll import so it can't be hooked.
The key system uses AES Encryption as well as a custom ECB cypher for transmitting the
data with a unique entropy on each connection.
Along with the Windows system code for XP and Vista but there is a Linux based high
performance server that handles all of the client connections.
